100 years of Personal Pocket Diaries

Ruth Phaneuf, who I worked closely with at Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery, created a pop-up gallery in Queens, NY, and here we created '100 Years of Person Pocket Diaries, 100 Years of Programmes and 100 Years of Recipes and Invoices'. Here you can read about a woman taking a train around the country in 1901, a Boy Scout writing everything he hears on the radio during WW2, an elderly woman eating Thanksgiving dinner alone, for the first time a farmer sees a car. There are also receipts for the purchase of a hat, a fish or a house, and 1930s Art Deco programmes for the theatre in Monte Carlo or Edwardian Music Hall and 1960s Jazz. This paper ephemera is truly for everyone.
